President Emmerson Mnangagwa has consoled the people of Tanzania following the death of their president John Magufuli, from suspected heart complications.
He was 61.
Through his official Twitter account, President Mnangagwa shared commiserations with Tanzanians and the rest of the African continent.
“My deepest condolences to the family of His Excellency President John Magufuli and the people of Tanzania. Africa mourns with you.
May his soul rest in peace,” said President Mnangagwa.
President Magufuli’s death was announced by the country’s Vice President Samia Suhulu Hassan in a televised address yesterday.
Zambia’s President Mr Edgar Lungu also sent his condolences to the Tanzanian people through his Twitter account.
