President Mnangagwa has launched the African Journal of Defence and Security, a product of the Zimbabwe National Defence University.
The launch took place after the graduation ceremony where the President capped 144 students.
In his speech, President Mnangagwa highlighted that it was a perfect platform for promoting discourse on defence and security issues.
“The launch of the journal comes at an opportune time when there is an increased need for the cross-pollination of ideas in the defence and security paradigm,” said President Mnangagwa.
“This will go a long way in enhancing the understanding of national, regional and international defence and security issues. More so as we are under a geo-political environment in which nations behave in a manner that ensures that their national interests, sovereignty and territorial integrity remain safeguarded.”
He added that he is pleased to note that the Journal is not confined to only one field of security. It now covers a whole spectrum of human security pillars, including economic security, food security, health security, environmental security, personal security, cyber security, community security and political security.
“The Journal will undoubtedly provide a platform where securocrats, the academia and students of national security studies will vigorously contribute towards the defence and security discourse by way of giving empirical evidence, research findings and conclusions, ” HE President Mnangagwa.
