His Excellency President Mnangagwa officially commissioned the Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF) Dzivarasekwa Housing Project in Harare, marking a significant milestone in government’s efforts to provide modern and affordable housing.
In addition, the President, who also serves as Commander-in-Chief, handed over Ford Ranger vehicles to the ZDF for operational use.
These vehicles are expected to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the defence forces in fulfilling their duties, aligning with the nation’s Vision 2030 goals.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Mnangagwa reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing housing needs for both public service officials and the general population.
“In line with Vision 2030, the Second Republic, under my leadership, is facilitating the provision of housing, which is a basic and fundamental need. Hence today, we celebrate yet another milestone that is more than brick and mortar, but also shows my Government’s unwavering commitment to provide modern, safe, and affordable housing for both public sector employees as well as citizens in general,” said President Mnangagwa.
The President also highlighted the importance of decent accommodation for members of the defence forces.
“Providing decent accommodation and safe working spaces are some of the critical enablers for our Forces to focus on their primary and most important contribution towards the modernisation, industrialisation, and growth of our economy,” he stated.
He urged beneficiaries of the housing facilities at Dzivarasekwa and Imbizo Barracks to take proper care of the properties.
“All beneficiaries of the institutional accommodation and accompanying facilities here at Dzivarasekwa as well as Imbizo Barracks must be good stewards over the properties,” President Mnangagwa said.
