President Mnangagwa Appoints Senator Lovemore Matuke as Minister of State for National Security

His Excellency President Mnangagwa, has appointed Senator Lovemore Matuke as the new Minister of State for National Security, effective immediately.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr. Martin Rushwaya.

The statement read: “In terms of Section 104 Subsection (1), as read with Section 225 of the Constitution, His Excellency the President, Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has appointed Honourable Lovemore Matuke, Senator, as the Minister of State for National Security with immediate effect.”

As Minister of State for National Security, Senator Matuke will be responsible for overseeing the nation’s security framework.
His role will involve strengthening the country’s security governance, addressing emerging threats, and ensuring the effective coordination of security agencies to protect national interests.

This appointment underscores the government’s commitment to proactive measures in maintaining the safety and well-being of its citizens.

In addition to Senator Matuke’s appointment, President Mnangagwa has made other key appointments within the Office of the President and Cabinet.

Mr. Raymore Machingura has been appointed as the Executive Director for the Presidential and National Scholarships Department. In this role, Mr. Machingura will oversee the administration of national and presidential scholarship programs, ensuring access to education opportunities for deserving Zimbabweans.

Meanwhile, Ms. Rossy Mpofu has been named the Special Advisor on Disability Issues. Her appointment highlights the government’s dedication to fostering inclusivity and addressing the needs of persons with disabilities. Ms. Mpofu will provide strategic advice on policies and initiatives aimed at promoting equal opportunities and improving accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

All appointments take effect immediately. These strategic personnel changes reflect the President’s vision of strengthening key areas of governance to support Zimbabwe’s socio-economic and security goals.
