President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed Ms. Helliate Rushwaya as the new Board Chairperson for Zimbabwe Broadcasting Cooperation (ZBC).
This was announced through a letter to the CEO of ZBC Ms. Adelaide Chikunguru by the Acting Permanent of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Services Mr. Johnathan Gandari that surfaced on social media.
In the letter the new members of the board were stated as; Halliate Rushwaya (Board Chairperson), Lewis Uriri, Chipo Nheta, Precious Charandura, Charles Munganasa, Dr. Henry Mukono and Naneti Silikuni.
The appointments follow the dismisall of the previous board amid concerns of under performance and the slack in ethical editorial policy and office code of conduct that saw the scandalous tribalist comments by the two hosts of the Good Morning Zimbabwe programme on ZBC-TV.
Another case is the Robson Mhandu Sexual Harrasment scandal with one of the hosts of the Good Morning Zimbabwe programme.
The two hosts Farai Juliet Magada and Victoria Manase and Robson Mhandu have since been fired.
