On December 26, 2023, President Emmerson Mnangagwa visited his rural roots, where he made donations at Lundi Primary School in Zvishavane.

The President in spirit of Christmas donated 54 bicycles to Chief Mapanzuro, who would then distribute them to the village heads. The President emphasized that he had purchased these bicycles in response to Chief Mapanzure’s request.

Additionally, First Lady Dr. A Mnangagwa presented Christmas hampers to the wives of the village heads during the event.

The President expressed that his purpose in visiting was to spend time with his fellow rural residents and even had the opportunity to reunite with some of his former schoolmates.

“The motivation behind these donations is Chief Mapanzure, who identified the mobility challenges faced by the village heads, which made it difficult for them to convene development meetings.

“I saw this as a starting point and expressed his intention to eventually upgrade the bicycles to motorbikes,” said President Mnangagwa

Chief Mapanzure expressed gratitude to the President for his generosity and also thanked him for the water scheme established in the area.

“The water facilities in his area now surpass those in urban centers, reflecting the vision of leaving no one and no place behind in the year 2030. As a result, people in the Mapanzure area can now access water directly from the tap,” said Chief Mapanzure.

Additionally, Chief Mapanzure extended appreciation to the President for donating two vehicles, one for Lundi Primary School and another for Dambudzo Secondary School.

The headmasters also expressed gratitude, noting that these vehicles have significantly improved efficiency and effectiveness in their respective schools.

Furthermore, the School Development Committee chairpersons were also provided with motorcycles.
