In a pair of press statements released on June 21, 2024, the Government has announced two significant appointments to important public service roles made by President ED Mnnagagwa.

The first statement revealed that Sibusisiwe Zembe (nee Nyoni) has been appointed as Secretary to the Public Service Commission, effective June 24, 2024. This position is responsible for overseeing the country’s civil service.

The second statement detailed the appointment of Dr. Tsitsi Rosemary Choruma-Dozwa as a Commissioner of the Zimbabwe Land Commission. This independent body is tasked with managing and overseeing matters related to land use and ownership in the country. Her appointment is also effective as of June 24, 2024.

Both statements were signed by Dr. M. Rushwaya, who holds the position of Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet.

These announcements come as the Zimbabwean government continues its efforts to strengthen and modernize the country’s public institutions. The appointments of experienced professionals like Zembe and Choruma-Dozwa are seen as part of these ongoing reforms.
