Zimbabwe will be hosting an extraordinary summit of SADC Heads of State and Government in Harare from 16th to 20th November 2024, primarily to address emerging issues of regional significance.
Speaking at the post cabinet briefing this Tuesday, Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Hon. Dr Jenfan Muswere the Summit is expected to be briefed on political events in the region.
“Preparations for hosting are at an advanced stage. Technical Sub-Committees have already started convening meetings to prepare the Extraordinary Summit,” noted Minister Muswere.
“The Sub-Committees will ride on the already established protocols which facilitated the successful hosting of the 44th SADC Summit inorder to ensure the seamless convening of the Extraordinary Summit,” added Minister Muswere.
All the 16 members of the Southern Africa region are expected to attend the Extraordinary Summit. The states include Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Malawi, Madagascar, South Africa, Lesotho , Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania, Namibia, Mauritius, Seychelles and Zimbabwe.
