MASH WEST – Mashonaland West Province hosted a belated International Women’s Day at Balmoral farm in Norton on Wednesday under the theme – DigitAll: Innovation and Technology for Gender equality.
The day was celebrated at Mrs Letwina Nyagano’s piggery project which currently boasts of 87 breeding pigs.
Her story is one of endurance and determination.
Mrs Nyagano said she started off with three pigs before she did various courses on piggery.
Currently, she is offering women free training on piggery.
“I am training women from as far as South Africa, Mozambique, and Swaziland, very few are locals”
She urged women to come for free training whilst she still has the voice to impart knowledge.
Meanwhile, Mrs Nyagano commended Government for women’s empowerment initiatives like loans provided by women’s banks.
Besides being a piggery farmer, Mrs Nyangano also does fish farming.
International Women’s day is celebrated on March 8, every year.
