Peace Is Critical For Economic Development – VP Chiwenga
Yvonne Mutambwa
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has urged Zimbabweans to pray and maintain peace during the upcoming harmonised elections and shun violence as it hinders economic growth.
Delivering his keynote address at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair Business Conference in Bulawayo yesterday, he said;
“Zimbabwe will be holding its harmonised and general elections this year. I urge all of you to promote the values of love, peace, tolerance, unity and harmony.
“Let us all pray to ensure that our elections are held in a peaceful environment. Peace is critical for economic development”
Vice President Chiwenga pleaded with the nation not to allow anything that hinders Zimbabwe’s economic transformation trajectory.
“So, we should be guided by that slogan by the late John Landa Nkomo which says ‘peace begins with me, peace with you and peace begins with all of us,” he said.
He also urged the nation to embrace innovation and proactively advance the National Competitiveness Agenda.
“Let us continue exploring these themes and seeking new opportunities for innovation and collaboration for Prosperity,” he said.
The annual trade exhibition is being held under the theme, “Transformative Innovation, Global Competitiveness”
