Not our man….ZNA distances itself from shoplifter

The Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has distanced itself from a story written by Newsday claiming that a serving military officer has been arrested for shoplifting.
Yesterday, army spokesperson Colonel Alphios Makotore released a statement saying the individual in question has never been in the ranks of the ZNA.
In the article titled ‘Soldier up for shoplifting’ NewsDay claimed that the shoplifter Sihlazuluking Ndashata (32) is a serving member of ZNA.
Ndashata pushed out a trolley with groceries worth $67 000 at a Harare supermarket.
When he was caught, he claimed to be a member of the ZNA.
It has however emerged that Ndashata is a serial con artist who purpots to be part of different arms of the security systems, depending on situation.
“The ZNA would like to put it on record that Ndashata is a bogus soldier.
The ZNA further reiterates that Ndashata is not and has never been a member of the ZNA. He masquerades as a soldier committing crimes. Military Police Investigations have since established that Ndashata is a typical Con-Artist,” Colonel Makotore said.
Ndashata is said to have pending cases of strealing Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services uniforms.
The uniforms belonged to his cousin Reedemer Ndashata stationed at Hwahwa Prison.
Col Makotore called on journalists to crosscheck the facts in their articles before peddling falsehoods.
NewsDay is not a first time offender itself as it was called out for inserting made up facts around the accident that claimed the life of the Pilot who flew comedienne Mai Titi’s Wedding Chopper.
Newsday has made a bad reputation of slandering the Army, Police and even the first family.
