US based, Nigerian Film Producer Ibidolapo Ajayi is in Zimbabwe and has hailed the Zimbabwe’s film industry as filled with natural talent.
He is working on a multi million film project Called A Township Story.
In an exclusive interview with TateguruTv, the film-maker acknowledged the abilities exhibited by teams he has worked with so far.
“I will make Zimbabwe proud by lifting the film industry and put African film on the global market.
I believe it’s a bold film industry, there is a lot of talent here, there is no doubt about that and I met with Sydney at the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles last year and I saw Gonarezhou movie, it just blew my mind, and I felt the talent is undoubting, the talent here is well. For me, immediately I knew there will be an opportunity to collaborate with him,” he said.
His company is called The Movement Pro Pictures.
The Movement Pro. Pictures is a contemporary film and creative-art house established to usher in the new frontier in filmmaking through global collaboration and our world-class expertise.
It has produced international award winning films Together with Nelned Pictures led by Sydney Taivavashe and Charles Munganasa.
Ibidolapp mentioned how it was a great opportunity to collaborate with his “brother,” Sydney Taivavashe who is a Zimbabwean film director, producer and screenwriter. His films are educational and usually feature youthful actors.
The talented film producers have worked on Gonarezhou and The Story of Mbuya Nehanda together.
The filming is set to begin in July .
The movie will feature actors from Zimbabwe, Nigeria, South Africa and America.
The project will create hundreds of jobs in Masvingo and bring in Foreign Direct investment.
“I look forward to work with local talent here in Zimbabwe and I am really excited. This is my fourth visit to Zimbabwe and I look forward to coming back and do this production. This will be my second production, after Coming from insanity which is on Netflix.”
The team met Resident Minister Chadzamira of Masvingo at his offices on Tuesday 8th June 2021.
They briefed him about the project and discussed plans to built a State of the Art Film Studio in future.
