In a significant development aimed at strengthening government efforts in key sectors, His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa today administered the oath of office to Honourable Simelisizwe Sibanda as the new Deputy Minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development.

The President also commissioned new members to the Zimbabwe Land Commission and the Commission of Inquiry into the Governance of the City
of Harare.

Honourable Simelisizwe Sibanda brings a wealth of experience to the Ministry, and his appointment is expected to contribute significantly to the government’s drive to enhance the country’s human capital development through innovation and technological advancement.

In addition to the ministerial appointment, President Mnangagwa also commissioned Dr Rosemary Tsitsi Choruma and Sukai Tongogara as members of the Zimbabwe Land Commission.

The Zimbabwe Land Commission is mandated to oversee land administration and management in the country, ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability. The commission is tasked with conducting land audits, resolving land disputes, and making recommendations to the government on equitable access to land.

Furthermore, Tafadzwa Charles Hungwe was appointed as a commissioner to the Commission of Inquiry into the Governance of the City of Harare. This commission is responsible for investigating and making recommendations on the governance challenges faced by the Harare City Council.

Its mandate includes examining issues such as corruption, service delivery, and financial management within the city.

The appointments of these individuals are seen as a strategic good to address critical national issues and foster development in various sectors.
