National Youth Day Celebrations underway

Cabinet has considered and adopted the National Youth day Celebrations Programme, as presented by the Minister of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation, Dr Kirsty Coventry.

 

At the Cabinet briefing, Minister of Information and Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa said the National Youth Day is set to recognize youth and their socio-economic development.

 

“Cabinet advises that youth in Zimbabwe accounts for 35% of the population, and they remain the most active asset to the nation.

 

“The Youth Day has been identified as an opportune event that Government should invest to celebrate Youth and improve the recognition of the work of the youth,” said Minister Monica Mutsvangwa.

 

The National Youth Celebrations, The Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation, in collaboration with other government Ministries, will host a National Youth Indaba on drug and substance abuse in Lupane.

 

“The Indaba will be graced by His Excellency President Mnangagwa. It will bring together about 5 000 youths from all provinces of the country,” added Minister Monica Mutsvangwa.

 

The Indaba will be used to engage local community leaders, business and development partners to reflect on the extent of drug and substance abuse in communities.
