This morning, Hon. Utoni Daniel Nujoma, Namibia’s Minister of Labour, Industrial Relations, and Employment Creation, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the State House in Harare.
Hon. Utoni Nujoma’s was accompanied by Ambassador Moses Kèkèou, son to the former President of Benin Mathieu Kèrèkou.
The meeting underscored the relations between Namibia and Zimbabwe, with discussions centered on bolstering cooperation in various sectors, particularly in labor and employment.
Speaking at the State House, Hon Utoni Nunjoma said today’s engagement is a private visit to reconnect with President Mnangagwa, given the two were Ministers of Justice concurrently and they tackled issues of land reform in the region together.
Hon Nujoma added that he was also here to tap from President Mnangagwa’ s knowledge. “We are looking forward to see how we can bring meaningful economic Independence to our region. Thats what we are strategising and we have learnt great lessons from His Excellency President Mnangagwa… Namibia will soon have elections and we are also learning from Zimbabwe,” he said.
The visit is expected to further strengthen the historical ties between Namibia and Zimbabwe, with potential discussions on enhancing economic cooperation, trade, and regional integration within the Southern African Development Community (SADC) framework taking centre stage.
