MSUAS Celebrates Third Graduation Ceremony with Focus on Sustainable Development

His Excellency, the President and Chancellor of all State Universities, Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa presided over the third Graduation Ceremony of Manicaland State University of Applied Sciences (MSUAS) in Mutare, where 153 graduates received their degrees across four faculties. The ceremony, held at Fernhill Campus, centered on the theme “Advancing Sustainable Production, Industrialisation and Modernization through Research and Innovation.”

Of the 2024 graduating class, 91 were male and 62 female. From the Faculty of Engineering were (76 graduates), Faculty of Agribusiness Management (44), Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology (17), and Faculty of Applied Social Sciences (16) graduates.

Three students achieved exceptional academic excellence:

Gamuchirai Chigaro, graduating with a First Class Bachelor of Engineering in Metallurgy Honours Degree, was recognized as the overall best graduating female student. She received multiple awards, including the prestigious Dr. Emmerson Mnangagwa Chancellor’s Award of USD1000.

Tinashe Carl Nhapi, earning a First Class Bachelor of Engineering in Mining and Mineral Processing Honours Degree, was named the overall best male graduating student, also receiving the Chancellor’s Award of USD1000 among other accolades.

Tafadzwa Monica Munetsi, graduating with a First Class Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Processing Honours Degree, secured the second-best graduating female student position and received multiple awards, including recognition from the Research Council of Zimbabwe for innovative research.

In his address, Vice Chancellor Professor Albert Chawanda emphasized the university’s commitment to technological advancement and sustainable development. He congratulated President Mnangagwa on his SADC Chairmanship and highlighted the crucial role graduates will play in Zimbabwe’s future development.

MSUAS continues to offer comprehensive programs through its four faculties: Engineering, Applied Sciences and Technology, Agribusiness Management, and Applied Social Sciences, preparing students for leadership roles in various sectors of the economy.
