Mother kills two children, kills self

A Chinhoyi mother of two reportedly killed her two children aged six and eight, before making an attempt on her life on Tuesday this week.
The incident many in Cherima suburb dumbfounded.
It is reported that Theresa Chawasarira gave her two children unknown lethal tablets which failed to also kill her instantly.
Fellow tenants discovered the children’s lifeless bodies after they had not seen the family the whole day, which was unusual.
A fellow tenant at Chawasarira`s lodgings, Portia Makasa forced the door open.
A fellow tenant, Portia Makasa broke open the door after failing to locate the family hours after waking up.
“The husband called us and gave us instructions to break open the doors and windows after he failed to get hold of the family. We obliged and we were shocked to find two lifeless bodies of the children with the mother still struggling for life. It was apparent the family had taken some tablets. The husband left this place on Monday for Harare,” said Makasa.
Makasa says she became suspicious when she realised that she had not seen the mother and her children up till 2.00 pm in the afternoon.
That was when she also asked her daughter in law to check.
The mother was still alive and continued taking the tablets even as efforts were being made to save her.
According to fellow occupants, the woman’s husband is said to have left the home for his work station in Harare and there are no indications of known domestic problems between the couple.
Chawasarira was rushed to Chinhoyi Hospital and died later during the same day.
