Morris Depot now Mukushi Training Academy

President Mnangagwa has today renamed police training academy Morris Depot to Mkushi Training Academy at a ceremony held at ZRP Sports Club grounds in Harare was attended by senior police officers, Government officials, and Cabinet Ministers.

The new name is inspired by the Mkushi Girls Camp in Zambia which was a military training camp for female guerrillas during Zimbabwe’s Liberation Struggle.

Mkushi Girls Camp was on the 18 October 1978 attacked by Rhodesian forces and this horrendous attack led to the massacre of over 1000 girls. Deputy Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Hon. Ruth Maboyi is one of the survivors of the Mkushi genocide.

President Mnangagwa also handed over a fleet of 130 new Mahindra single cab trucks vehicles to the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) fleet of new as part of efforts by the Second Republic to capacitate law enforcement agencies in combating crime in the country.
