The government has announced a moratorium on the allocation of Urban State Land, effective immediately. The decision comes as the Ministry of Local Government and Public Works seeks to review and strengthen existing policies and guidelines for the management of this vital resource.
In a press statement, the Ministry explained that the moratorium is necessary to ensure the sustainable and functional development of Urban State Land, a finite heritage resource central to the country’s national development strategy. The Ministry emphasized the need for an efficient and transparent system to manage this resource, which plays a crucial role in facilitating sustainable development.
The moratorium will remain in place until further notice, allowing the Ministry to finalize the ongoing process of reviewing and strengthening existing policies and guidelines. During this period, the Ministry urges stakeholders and the general public to be patient as they work to ensure the responsible and effective management of Urban State Land.
