President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appointed parliamentarian Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga as Zimbabwe`s Ambassador to Sweden.
Misihairabwi-Mushonga was a rare breed among opposition legislators, who led the Primary and Secondary Education portfolio committee with excellence.
The elevation was announced by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Misheck Sibanda through the Government gazette.
“It is hereby notified that His Excellency the President has, in terms of section 110(2) as read with section 204 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No 20) 2013 appointed Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Kingdom of Sweden,” said Dr Sibanda.
The appointment shows President Mnangagwa`s commitment to working together with progressive opposition figures.
In 2019, he appointed James Maridadi of the MDC-T to become Zimbabwe`s Ambassador to Senegal.
