Women who are excelling in manufacturing are doing a great job in demystifying prejudices held against women who want to venture into previously male dominated industries, Defense and War Veterans Affairs Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri has said.
Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri said women should be active players in the manufacturing industry as they are the ones who dominate in the numbers of those who buy goods in shops.
She made these remarks on the sidelines of President Mnangagwa`s visit to the Wattle company here in Mutare earlier today.
“What I am convinced about, is that the three companies will not succeed with the support of women because each time a woman walks into a supermarket, the goods on the display find themselves in the food basket so they cannot be your companies without the support of women,” Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri said.
Minister Muchinguri praised President Mnangagwa for policies that allow women to thrive despite the economic hardships and the Covid-19 pandemic which has subdued business activities.
President Mnangagwa supported Minister Muchinguri`s sentiments, saying indeed women have a critical role to play in national growth and should be given the requisite support to achieve their dreams.
