Yesterday ZANUPF Youth League voted in their National Exceutive as per the Constitution of the Revolutionary Party.
The last National Youth League Congress was held in 2014 and overseen by then National Chairman, the late Cde Simon Khaya Moyo.
The National Secretary for Youth Affairs was the late Cde Absolom Sikhosana, although he was over 35 the thinking was that he provides guidance to the youth – taking a patron role.
The post which is now held by Cde Pupurai Togarepi continues to function under the same wisdom.
This leaves the Deputy Youth Secretary as the day to day commander of the Youth League.
During the recently held Seventh National Youth League Congress the vanguards of the revolution chose the National Exceutive to replace the longest running executive in the party’s history.
Emerging victorious at this elective Congress was a young man from Gutu District, Masvingo Province.
Cde John Paradza is the new Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs in the ruling party.
Cde Paradza who is also a sitting Member of Parliament for Gutu West was born on December 31 1991.
He did his primary education at Matiza Primary School before moving on to Chikwerengwe Secondary School.
He later on enrolled for a Diploma in Theology and Christian Leadership with AMFIC.
Hon Cde Paradza is a businessman who owns a fleet of kombis which ply the Gutu-Harare route.
He is also into Gold Mining like many youths of his age who have taken advantage of the youth inclusive policies by the Government of Zimbabwe.
Not only is an example of the inclusion of youths in policy making as he became a Member of Parliament under the age of 30, he is also a good specimen of Youth economic inclusion as well.
He is Married to Theresa Paradza and a family man who believed in ploughing back into the society.
He partakes in philanthropist deeds, donating goods, food worth over $117 000 for Cyclone Idai victims.
Being a black belt karateka Hon Cde Paradza believes in discipline and the subtle art of consistency.
Something that can be associated with his icon and role model.
In his campaign speech for nomination to National Executive in Masvingo Province Hon Cde John Paradza was quoted saying,
“I derive my pride from His Excellency President ED Mnangagwa and his new dispensation where young people are given a chance to realize their potential”
President Emerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa yesterday told the Youth League that in their time they fought to liberate the nation with guns but in the modern age the youth must defend that hard earned freedom through the ballot, and by being and the forefront of building the nation’s economy.
“When we leave this world we want to be at peace knowing we left the future of the Revolutionary Party and the nation in the hands of youths who are capable of leading from the front,” said President Mnangagwa.
