The Nelson Chamisa led MDC-A is breaking Covid-19 prevention protocols, by holding political events across the country.

Over the past few days, the party has been deploying senior members across the country assembling crowds that exceed the stipulated number of 50 per gathering.

As it becomes increasingly clear that the party is devoid of any progressive ideas, people have been defecting en masse from the struggling political outfit.

In a bid to save their waning political fortunes, the party has resorted to breaking the law in a classic case of rank desperation.

Senior MDC-Alliance members like Happymore Chidziva, Chalton Hwende and Ostallos Siziba have been going around the country holding meetings that break regulations.

The most recent event held by the party was yesterday, in which MDC-A Secretary General Charlton Hwende organised a social soccer tournament in Mhondoro-Mubaira.

Last week, Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Kazembe Kazembe warned Zimbabweans against breaking laws set to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“Covid-19 knows no boundary, creed, status or religion,” he said. “In this regard, Zimbabweans should observe and comply with the Government of Zimbabwe’s Covid-19 health and safety protocols,” said Minister Kazembe.

Despite the pleas, it appears like MDC-A is committed to defiance.

It is not uncommon for MDC-A figures to break the law with a view to score financial points from the processes.

Barely a week ago, MDC-A councilor in Gutu, Benard Chimwango was arrested for organising a football tournament which broke Covid-19 protocols.

Observers believe there are stipends earned by those who get arrested and this explains the law breaking frenzy by MDC-A members.

Recently, Makomborero Haruzivishe was convicted of kidnap and inciting violence, after he pleaded guilty to the charges.

The activist had recorded himself engaging in these acts of hooliganism, his social media was a well-curated evidence board of his misgivings but his colleagues continue to make noise.
