Works on the Beitbridge-Harare Highway which is being undertaken by various local contractors is facilitating smooth flow of traffic leading to clogging at the Mbudzi roundabout interchange.
The clogging has seen unprecedented delays to traffic heading into and out of the city centre, Chitungwiza and the Western suburbs on Harare – Masvingo highway.
This has prompted the Government to prioritise and approve the immediate construction of a modern Mbudzi Traffic Interchange. This was revealed by Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Monica Mutsvangwa at a post-Cabinet media briefing in Harare yesterday.
She said, “Cabinet has noted that works on the Beitbridge-Harare Highway are facilitating the smooth flow of traffic causing congestion at the Mbudzi Roundabout. Accordingly, Cabinet has approved the immediate construction of the Mbudzi Traffic Interchange in Harare.”
At the same briefing to the press, Minister Mutsvangwa announced that His Excellency the President Cde Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa had extended Covid-19 Level 2 Lockdown by a further 2 weeks. The public is advised to continue observing WHO and National COVID-19 Protocols of sanitizing, masking up, practicing social distancing and observing curfew hours.
