Mberengwa legislator Alum Mpofu dies

ZANU PF Mberengwa South Member of Parliament and mover of the Patriotic Bill in Parliament, Cde Alum Mpofu has died.
Honorable Mpofu collapsed and died at his house in Masvingo yesterday.

The legislator who was battling kidney complications is said to have collapsed and was rushed to a nearby medical facility where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Cde Mpofu is reported to have been unwell for sometime leading up to his death.

His death was confirmed by ZANU PF Chief Whip Hon. Pupurai Togarepi and by ZANU PF Mberengwa District Coordinating Committee Secretary for Administration and Mberengwa East legislator Hon Marko Raidza.

Confirming his death, Cde raidza said, “It is true cde. We are in pain at the loss of our hardworking comrade.”

The former Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation Chief Executive Officer was elected Mberengwa South legislator in the 2018 harmonised election at his first attempt at political office.

His most notable achievement was moving the highly anticipated Patriotism Bill which seeks to make it a crime for a Zimbabwean citizen to engage foreign governments for the imposition of sanctions and any other such deleterious actions on the country.

Mourners are gathered at his home in Masvingo.
