Massive rural ICT rollout in progress

Zimbabwe is currently setting up community information centres in rural area, a move set to assist the communities adjust to the new ICT intensive new normal.

In a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, the Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services, Dr Jenfan Muswere reported that out of the targeted 10 Community Village Information Centers (CVICs), three were commissioned.

Those commissioned are, St Theresa Community Village Information Centre in Rusape, Manicaland Province, Nyadire, Community Village Information Centres in Mutoko, Mashonaland East Province; and Brunapeg Community Village Information Centre in Matabeleland South Province.

A number of similar facilities are being readied for use, these include at Karanda Hospital Mt. Darwin,Mashonaland Central Province, Madziwa, Mashonaland Central Province, Majuru, Goromonzi, Mashonaland East Province, Tongogara and Mnene, Midlands Province and Dorowa, Manicaland Province.

Minister Muswere also informed Cabinet that nine Community Information Centres modelled around the recently launched (CIC), while the other nine are awaiting equipment and are being setup.
