MUTARE- The ruling party ZANU PF yesterday welcome 460 new members who defected from the MDC-Alliance.

The members whose request to join the revolutionary party was accepted, were unveiled at a party meeting held at Marymount Teachers College.

They were welcomed by ZANU PF Politburo Members, Acting Political Commissar Cde Patrick Chinamasa, Acting Spokesperson Cde Mike Bimha and Manicaland Provincial Chair Cde Mike Madiro.

Explaining their decisions, the new members drawn from different parts of Manicaland said they are following ZANU PF`s progressive reforms, infrastructure development and empowerment programmes that are being witnessed in the Second Republic.

Cde Chinamasa urged the ZANU PF structures in Manicaland to embrace them to work in harmony and in unity towards the development of the country.

This is not the first time that ZANU PF has received new members from the opposition ranks, the defections have become regular as ZANU PF continues to implement its manifesto.

Reports from the MDC-A also suggest that the party leader Nelson Chamisa has failed to galvanise his party, as he continues leading with an iron fist where only his ideas see the light of the day.
