ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Province is united and fully behind the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa as the party’s sole candidate for 2023.
In an address to the media, ZANU PF Provincial Chairman for Mashonaland Central Cde Kazembe Kazembe dismissed malicious claims by some rogue elements who claim that the party is divided along factional lines in the Province.
“I would like to dispel the narrative being driven by some political malcontents that the Province is reaching out to some self-exiled politicians to come and fill some imaginary non-existent vacuum in the ZANU PF leadership structure. As a Province we are fully behind the leadership of His Excellency, The President, Cde Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa,” said Cde Kazembe.
Cde Kazembe had no kind words for political miscreants who purported to speak for the party’s Provincial leadership when in fact they are political misfits who were expelled from the party a long time ago for similar misdemeanours.
The Province is unanimous on the candidacy of President Mnangagwa come 2023 harmonised elections.
“The Province is very clear on the 2023 Presidential candidate, and that is the First Secretary and President of ZANU PF, Cde Dr. E.D Mnangagwa. The Youth League which is the vanguard of the Party endorsed the candidacy of His Excellency the President. The Women’s League, (musvo wemusangano), endorsed the candidacy of His Excellency the President,” said Cde Kazembe.
Cde Kazembe had no kind words for those activists, both within and outside the party, who are in the habit of being used by opposition parties to propagate falsehoods against the revolutionary party and its leadership each time a major international event is on the horizon, to tarnish the good image of the President, ZANU PF party and government he leads.
The same people, Cde Kazembe said, were culpable for trying to create factional rifts between the President and his closest lieutenant and Honourable Vice President (Rtd) General Constantino Chiwenga, saying that they are wasting their time as the two revolutionary leaders enjoy a great personal and professional working relationship dating back to the liberation struggle.
He said such attempts can only come to naught.
“We are also aware of people who predictably want to create artificial rifts between His Excellency, the President and Vice President General (Rtd) Dr CDGN Chiwenga every time the party is going for a conference or Congress,” said Cde Kazembe.
“As far as the Province is concerned and is aware, there are no fissures or issues between the two honourable men. If anything they work very well as evidenced by the trajectory the country has taken.”
He revealed that regime change agents in the country are scared to death with the dynamic combination of the two leaders that is moving the country forward at a pace never seen in the history to the country’s development.
He further asserted that the desperate and vain divide and rule tactics will not work in ZANU PF, a party founded on a strong history and ideology of the liberation struggle.
According to Cde Kazembe, the party continues to grow from strength to strength in Mashonaland Central and that the province will not be deterred from pursuing its developmental agenda which symbolises a country that is on the move.
“As a Province we will not be distracted from the developmental programs the New Dispensation is implementing in our Province. Our focus is now on developing our Province so that we are not left behind.”
