Marapira transferred to Ministry of Agriculture

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has transferred Hon Davis Marapira to the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development. He will be responsible for Agricultural Colleges, Water Resources and Irrigation Development, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.

In an announcement on June 21, 2022, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda revealed that Marapira will be reporting to the Minister Anxious Masuka.

“His Excellency, the President has in terms of Section 104 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe of 2013 transferred the Minister of State in the office of Monitoring the Implementation of Special Agriculture and Related Programmes, Hon Davis Marapira to the Ministry of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development to be responsible for Agricultural Colleges, Water Resources and Irrigation Development, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene.
He will report to Honourable Minister Dr Anxious J. Masuka. The appointment is with immediate effect,” read the statement.

Hon Marapira who is the Member of Parliament for Masvingo North has worked extensively in the areas he has been reassigned to oversee in the new transfer.

Being a successful farmer himself, Marapira has a high aptitude for the art of agriculture and it is expected that his vast experience will be handy in ensuring that the country becomes food secure through training of balanced graduates and ensuring adequate water harvesting for irrigation.
