An imposter who was masquerading as a ZACC investigator has been arrested by the organisation he claims to represent.
ZACC had in the past days been inundated with calls from concerned members that there was a questionable presence of people who claimed to be commissioners and investigators from the anti-graft body.
Prosper Kaseke, one of the bogus investigators from Glen Norah blew his cover when he bragged over his imagined employer to an actual ZACC staffer.
ZACC spokesperson, John Makamure shared the details leading to his arrest.
“Prosper Kaseke gave a lift to a ZACC investigator (unbeknown to him) and two other passengers at Westgate on their way to Nyabira last Friday and identified himself as a field-officer at ZACC.
He produced a fake identification which was written National Anti-Corruption of Zimbabwe and told passengers that he was on duty operating in the Banket area,” wrote Makumure.
“Kaseke went on to state that he was stationed at ZACC’s offices in Herbert Chitepo and was ranked as a Captain. He also indicated that he had operated in many areas around Zimbabwe including boarder areas and Kwekwe,” Makumure continued.
The ZACC Investigations Officer, requested a stopover at the bus-stop upon arrival in Nyabira.
He then immediately arrested Kaseke , the impersonator, and took him to Nyabira Police Station where he was detained.
ZACC called on the public to be wary of bogus officials and urged those who hold suspicions to call the following numbers:
