The JR Goddard projects at Pezulu Ranch were officially commissioned by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Dr Evelyn Ndlovu.
Present at the event were community members, chief Jahana, councilors from ward 13 and 23, ZRP, MP Taruvinga representative, DCC chair, Provincial and district government stakeholders.
Presenting her speech, the Minister of State noted that President Mnangagwa has always emphasized the attainment of upper middle income society by 2030. Hence the JR Goddard is working inline with the President’s vision.
“I have been reliably informed that due to limited resources the progress to construct Nyabu bridge by council was slow however when Goddard took over he managed to build one of the strongest bridges in Zimbabwe, ” said Minister Ndlovu.
In addition, she noted that not only did JR Goddard constructed the bridge, he is also maintaining several roads around the area.
“I am blessed go be part of the commissioning of the state of the art projects which will improve the quality of education of the children and also upgrade lifestyle of teachers who will now reside in comfortable accommodation,” she added.
During the tour of the area, the owner Jimmy R Goddard said he arrived in Pezulu before independence.
“Venturing into construction, agriculture, livestock production and poultry has been his source of livelihood. Recently I also started pecan nut production with 18000 trees,” he said.
Among the present delegates was Mr Luke Dube, the council chairperson who expressed his appreciation to the works done by JR Goddard.
“I am thankful for the collaboration we have made with Mr JR Goddard especially in infrastructure where we are getting help in the construction of bridges,roads and dams across the district,” he said.
Farmers were commended for introducing pecan nut plant into Zimbabwean Agricultural sector which has been adopted by JR Goddard for exports and generation of foreign currency.
