Journalist Gudhlanga dies

TV personality and journalist Tawanda Gudhlanga has died.

He succumbed to COVID-19 related complications.

His colleagues in the media confirmed the death this morning.

Journalist Clarkson Mambo said Gudhlanga will be remembered for being a consummate professional.

“Woke up to the saddest news that a dear brother & colleague @tawandagud succumbed to Covid-19. Thoroughly enjoyed his shifts & programmes on @classic263 & on @ZBCNewsonline He was a good man, a gentleman. A big loss to the journalism fraternity,” Mambo wrote on his Twitter.

At the time of his death, Gudhlanga was the General Manager of Zimbabwe’s first regional radio station, Ya FM.

He was well known for hosting the ZBCTv current affairs programme, Zimbabwe Today where he got to interview Government officials such as Professor Mthuli Ncube.

Gudhlanga hosted various Current Affairs programs on ZBCTV. The state broadcaster joined the media fraternity in mourning Gudhlanga’s death saying;

“We are very sad to learn of the passing of former @classic263 and @ZBCtv presenter Tawanda Gudhlanga “Life is Gooodhlanga”.. A great loss. May is soul rest in peace (si),” ZBC said.

In 2017, he won the NAMA Award for Outstanding Broadcast Journalist.
