Independence Day Celebrations, Zim at 41

Zimbabwe will be celebrating 41 years of Independence under the theme “Zim at 41 Together Growing the Economy for a Prosperous Resilient and Inclusive Society.”

The 41st commemorations are taking place during a pandemic hence a lot will happen virtually to avoid congestion. The commemorations will be treated as a Season of Celebrations stretching into a number of days.

The celebrations will kick off with the National Attire Dress Competition on Friday 16 at the HICC where the provincial winners who won in last year’s launch of the national dress fabric will compete for the award of the best National Design.

The Online Youth Business Forum will follow as a way to celebrate the Youth that represent the future. The Business Forum will be held virtually on Saturday 17 in seven chartrooms that will feature different Ministers engaging with the youths on youth interests in different sectors of the economy. Login details to enter the chartroom will be provided to different youth groups.

The Children’s Party will be held in the evening with the main party taking place at the State House with only 50 children in attendance in accordance with the covid-19 regulations.

There will also be provincial parties happening across the country led by Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa will feature in a wide ranging interview on State Media which will be screened on ZTV and ZTN later on the day at 20:30hours. It will also be featured at the same time on National Radios and on-line platforms for our Diaspora audience.

A Virtual Concert where artists are billed to perform from 18:00hours on April 17 to 06:00hours on April 18 will avail citizens an opportunity to make merry however only 50 people will be at the venue and the police will ensure that only artists and their crews will be at the event. Preventative and precautionary Covid-19 protocols will be observed.

Fireworks display will launch from HICC at midnight. ZBC will broadcast the event.
The President will address the nation on 11:30hours on April 18 and will be broadcasted live on television, all national Radio Stations and online platforms followed up with repeats later on.

The celebrations will close of with the mighty national teams Dynamos and Highlanders battling it out for the Independence Trophy at 13:00hours with on 50 officials and team members in attendance. The match will be broadcasted on television and Radio stations
