President Mnangagwa has reminded educators of the symbiotic relationship between the ruling ZANU PF and teachers which goes deep into the country`s history.

The President gave this reminder at the Teachers For Economic Development National Launch at the Harare International Conference yesterday.

“Teaching is a noble profession; we are all products of teacher. You our teachers are thus the bedrock of society and we truly appreciate you.
ZANU-PF and the education fraternity have a long standing relationship. This symbolic relationship dates back to the liberation struggle, with some of the Founding Fathers emerging out of the education sector,” said President Mnangagwa.

President Mnangagwa said teachers should resist overtures by enemies of the country who are trying to drive a wedge between the ruling party and teachers.

“ZANU-PF must remain connected with the Education sector and the teaching fraternity immersed in the Party. We must never again allow any challenges or differences we may face as a people, to separate these two institutions,” he added.

President Mnangagwa saluted the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Zimbabwe Foundation for Education with Production and the Chitepo School of Ideology for facilitating the establishment of Teachers for Economic Development.

“The launch of the initiative is most appropriate following ongoing education reforms being implemented by Government.
These include National Development Strategy 1, Vision 2030, SDG Goals number 4 on inclusive equitable quality education, Competence Based Curriculum and Heritage Based Education 5.0,” he said.

President Mnangagwa told the teachers gathered that the patriotic and devoted were the rightful leaders and standards to steer the future of the nation towards actual Economic Development.

“The education sector is a strategic cog in the modernisation and industrialisation agenda of our great motherland Zimbabwe. You our Teachers have a weighty duty and obligation which must not be taken lightly.
Patriotic, committed, focused and loyal members of the education sector must be the drivers which enable current and future generations to acquire relevant knowledge skills and requisite mindsets to build and mordenise Zimbabwe,” President Mnangagwa said.
