Huge Boost For Tourism Sector

HARARE – The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority attended an inaugural Bleisure Trade and Investment Summit in Mauritius, which was held between Monday and yesterday.
The Bleisure Summit is a convergence platform that brings together leisure and business for business travellers who desire to make the best out of their travel time.
Speaking on the side lines of the Summit, ZTA Special Projects executive director Mr Reason Machigere said the summit was an opportunity for networking and engagement.
“The Summit is a platform for the ZTA to network and engage the Africa investment community and promote tourism investment opportunities in Zimbabwe,” said Machigere.
“…we are here to engage with the African markets, to explore how best we can take advantage of the Intercontinental Free Trade Area to enhance internal trade within African borders.”
Machigere revealed that among other things, the Summit discussed the issue of access to various African destinations as a way of encouraging intra-Africa travel and tourism among Africans
The summit also agreed on the need to stimulate intra-Africa travel and to develop keen interest in the issue of product diversification as well as how it can be promoted.
The four day conference will cover Trade and Investment Sessions, B2B and deal making meetings, Investment and Real Estate Sites, golf days, networking cocktail dinner, excursions, and wellness retreat.
Exhibitions are a key component of the ZTA’s marketing strategy as the nation angles to relaunch its tourism product and to reclaim its prime destination status through robust engagement and re-engagement with potential source markets.
Pursuant to the theme of the Summit, Zimbabwe is actively seeking to position itself as a premier destination for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination, showcasing its diverse natural attractions in addition to a rich cultural history and a hospitable population.
