A grade 7 pupil at Nyamhuka Primary School in Nyanga has tested positive for Covid-19.
The learner who tested positive and 16 other pupils were subjected to tests after a teacher who used to take them for extra lessons succumbed to Covid-19 last week.
A teacher identified as Ms Siyakurima from Garikai residential area, who was a teacher at a private school in Rochdale, was holding extra lessons with learners and caught Covid-19 which eventually took her life.
As is standard procedure, contacts are tested to determine the extent of the virus` spread and the learners were identified as they had spent time with the late teacher.
Samples taken from the learners have been transferred to Mutare for PCR assessment.
However, science states that children rarely go through adverse Covid-19 symptoms as they have comparatively stronger immune systems.
