Government has decided to build on the momentum from the previous agricultural season, through allowing all communal farmers to benefit from the flagship Agricultural programme, Pfumvudza.

There is a target to ensure that all beneficiaries should have received their input packs by November 15.

In an internal notice gleaned by Tateguru Tv, Grain Marketing Board Marketing Director Forward Takaendesa instructed regional managers and supply chain managers across the country to give inputs to all households, regardless of whether or not they have prepared the mandatory five plots.

“All villagers be allowed to benefit from the Presidential Input Scheme whether or not they have prepared the said five(5) plots,” read the notice.

This year the monitoring mechanisms have been heightened to ensure there is equitable and efficient distribution.

This follows a cabinet decision in which it was agreed that inputs should be expeditiously delivered to all rural households to coincide with the rainy season, whose onset we are approaching.

Small holder farmers are a critical part of the country`s food security aspiration, as is evidenced by the contribution they have made to this year`s bumper harvest whose deliveries are still ongoing.
