Government reduces Zupco fares

Ministerr of Local Government and Public Works Hon July Moyo has with immediate effect approved the reduction of fares for ZUPCO buses to make it affordable and discourage commuters from boarding illegal pirate taxis.

Zupco buses are now charging $40 from $60 while Zupco kombis have also reduced their charges from $80 to $60 for a distance less than 20km.
For a distance between 21-30km buses are now charging $60 from $80 while Kombis are now $80 from $100.
From 31-40km buses are now pegged at $80.

In a statement released by ZUPCO Company, the Entity said following the announcement by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe ED Mnangagwa on new Lockdown measures, and discussion with the minister of Local Government and Public Works Hon July Moyo,the measures are to reduce congestion in urban centres and eliminate the use of illegal transport modes.

All intercity buses will be redeployed to urban operations to increase carrying capacity and efficiency.

Zupco buses will be operating under the curfew guidelines. Buses will be deployed as per scheduled time tables using designated bus stops.

Zimbabwe level four Covid-19 Lockdown was extended by further two weeks by His Excellency President Mnangagwa as to contain the spread of the deadly Virus.
