The Zimbabwe Government has moved to encourage morale in the National soccer team with monetary incentives for the upcoming World Cup qualifier match against Ethiopia.
Last month ZIFA set up a fund-raising committee chaired by association’s board member responsible for finance to mobilise resources for the National team.
ZIFA announced that its fundraising committee has secured a total of US$64000 through the facilitation of Deputy Minister of Youth,Sport, Arts and Recreation Tino Machakaire. The incentive will be given to the Warriors if they manage to beat Ethiopia.
“It is worth noting that these world Cup qualifiers apart from being important matches for us to go to our first ever World Cup also serve as serious preparatory matches towards Afcon slated for Cameroon in January. We are thrilled by the support from the Deputy Minister and continue to urge our valued stakeholders to follow the Minister’s initiative in motivating the Warriors to perform well. It is Significant to stress that the money shall be channelled directly in cash or to Nostrol bank accounts of recipients should the Warriors emerge victorious against Ethiopia.” Reads a statement from the Zifa interim Fundraising Committee Chairperson Phillemon Machana.
Zimbabwe will be hoping to collect maximum points in Ethiopia after having a goalless draw against South Africa at the National sports stadium last week.
