Government Commits To The Construction Of New Schools

Cabinet received a report of progress on projects under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, as presented by Honourable Torerai Moyo.

 

In 2022, Government availed $4,69 billion for the construction of 35 model schools in all the country’s 10 provinces.

 

The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has recorded registration of 40 newly built and existing satellite schools in all the provinces is on course for completion before the end of the cycle.

 

“The upgrading of school infrastructure (rehabilitation and upgrading of classroom blocks, administration offices, accommodation, water and sanitation hygiene facilities) at 11 schools is on course for completion before the end of the cycle.

 

“The construction and conversion of 10 laboratories at schools in Manicaland, Matabeleland North; Harare Metropolitan, Masvingo and Mashonaland provinces is on course for completion before the end of the cycle,” said Minister Muswere.

 

There is also the construction of four sustainable and affordable boarding facilities in Manicaland, Masvingo and Mashonaland East provinces to reduce walking distances for learners is on.
