The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (ZERA) has announced a price increase which has seen both petrol and diesel break the US$1.40 mark.

In a notice, ZERA said blending ratios have been E10 meaning that there is now just 10 percent of ethanol from 20 percent which was the previous blending ratio.

“Operators may sell the petroleum products below the prescribed prices depending on their trading advantages and should display prices in prominent place as provided by the fuel pricing regulations,” ZERA said.

The price for diesel is now ZWL$150.31 or USD$1.38 per litre while petrol is now ZWL $154.56 or UDS$1.42 per litre.

The recent fuel increase has been necessitated by global crude oil prices which went up by between 3 to 5 percent this past week.
