The highlight at University of Zimbabwe’s 42nd Graduation Ceremony on Friday September 8, 2023 was the awarding of two members of the First Family an Honourary Doctorate and Degree in Law.

First Lady, Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa has been conferred an Honorary Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa) by the University of Zimbabwe.

Amai Dr. Mnangagwa was honoured for her work in rejuvenating the Indegineous culinary arts with her Nhanga Gota programmes ,under her Angel of Hope Foundation. She has held these programmes nation wide teaching the art of making nutritious cultural dishes from ingredients native to Zimbabwe.

It is through the same Angel of Hope Foundation that the First Lady has performed many philanthropic deeds helping Orphans, widows and vulnerable persons nationwide.

David Mnangagwa was also awarded a degree in Law where he was noted to have performed exceptionally well (which many seldom achieve).

His Excellency and Chancellor President Emmerson Mnangagwa was in a jovial mood witnessing the crop of intellectuals being produced at Zimbabwe’s Top University.

He was elated, calling back one graduate to shake his hand after the Actural Science First Class Degree holder was announced to have attained 50 distinctions in his studies.

Amongst the graduates was Opposition activist Pedzisai Ruhanya who also graduated with Law Degree. Despite his online utterances contesting the legitimacy of President Mnangagwa, he too was patiently waiting to be capped by the President and Chancellor.
