Financial services company loses US$700K to robbers

Zimbabwe Republic Police in Harare are investigating a case of robbery, which occurred on 25 February, 2024, at a financial services company along Rohester Road , Belgravia, Harare.
Police have launched a manhunt for the six suspects who got away with US$700 000.
The suspects were armed with iron bars, explosives, and guns when they stormed the company premises before attacking employees who were on duty.
They then ransacked the operations manager’s office where they blasted a safe and got away with US$716 340, two small cash boxes, three laptops and a bag and stole a pistol.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said,
“The suspects dropped US$ 5000.00, two laptops and a grinder at the scene. Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.”
Commissioner Nyathi added that investigations were underway, adding that insiders could have leaked information to the robbers.
“Preliminary investigations show that there is a leakage of information from insiders to the criminals,” Nyathi said.
“As police, we have always said companies should not release information about their financial dealings to every employee, including security guards.”
Meanwhile, Police in Zvishavane are appealing for information which may assist in the investigation of a case of murder in which Remember Karera was found dead with two deep cuts on the head and bruises all over the body at a bushy area near SQ Suburbs, Maglass T/Ship on 25 February 2024.
Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station.
