The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has bowed to fan pressure and fired the senior national soccer team coach Zdravko Logarusic.
Fans have been calling for the Croat`s sacking, after a poor run but ZIFA were adamant on keeping him, raising suspicion that there are some board members benefitting from his ruinous stay.
Logarusic only managed one win in 14 matches with the Warriors, the worst record the country has held since 1980.
Zifa spokesperson Xolisani Gwasela said that the whole technical team which included the recently appointed assistant coach Benjani Mwaruwari has also been disbanded.
“The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) would like to inform the football fraternity and the nation at large that it has amicably parted ways with Senior Men’s team coach Zdravko Logarusic. The decision was arrived at upon consideration by the full Executive Committee of all the various relevant circumstances pertaining to the coach’s contract,” said Gwesela.
Zifa said they will appoint an interim technical team.
Next month, Zifa is facing Ghana in the World Cup qualifiers.
