Facts humble Ngarivhume

Brian Rungano Temba

Excitable solo opposition activist Jacob Ngarivhume has been served humble pie after Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals exposed a silly attempt to slander the health sector by the struggling politician.

Ngarivhume alleged that a relative of his had died during surgery at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, charging that the team was negligent.

He claimed that the team which performed the procedure cut her bowls during a caesarian section operation.

The hospital challenged Ngarivhume`s claims that they are the one who operated the man`s niece.

“We would like to make the record clear that the patient was not operated on at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals but at one of the private health care facilities. Apparently most private medical facilities have no Intensive Care Unit or High Dependency Unit (ICU and HDU), so the patient was referred to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals ICU for further management.

Our doctors tried their best to salvage the situation but unfortunately the patient could not make it,” read the statement.

After the facts had been laid bare, Ngarivhume admitted to misleading Zimbabweans.

“I need to set the record straight. My remarks on the incident involving my late niece were misleading in that they the put the blame entirely on Pari. That was not my intention.

I was simply highlighting the challenges we are facing with our healthcare system, whether private or public. The doctors at Pari did the best they could under the circumstances…” said Ngarivhume in a winding tweet.

He added; “I am not ashamed to say I was wrong. My remarks should have been more clear for that I apologize to the hard working men and women at Pari who do all they can to save lives under difficult circumstances.”

Ngarivhume has been criticized by internet users for trying to use his niece’s death for political gain.
