The Angel of Hope Foundation, in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU), will conduct empowerment training sessions for marginalized communities in Goromonzi this week.
These sessions will offer various courses aimed at enhancing skills and knowledge to support rural development, contributing to Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 goal.
At a preparatory meeting recently held at the Jamaica Training Centre for Rural Women, Goromonzi South, District Development Coordinator (DCC) Prisca Dube emphasized the importance of empowering rural communities through education and training. She noted that initiatives like these are critical for achieving Vision 2030.
ZOU facilitators, including Prof. Gift Rupandu, Prof. Richard Bukaliya, and Dr. Abisha Mugari, shared that the training will be conducted at five densely populated centers in Goromonzi, ensuring broad participation.
The printing of training materials will be coordinated by the DDC’s office.
The local organizers will provide food and accommodation for the five ZOU trainers. The facilitators also require fuel and transportation for monitoring, which will be sourced by the local community, led by the DDC. Local councilors will mobilize participants, with no restrictions on age or educational background, and a large turnout is expected.
The training will take place from Wednesday, October 9th to Friday, October 11th, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day. Courses will include topics relevant to the community, such as Agriculture, Beekeeping, Basic Computer Literacy, Drug Abuse Management, Disability Inclusion, and Environmental Stewardship.
Participants will receive Certificates of Participation, while facilitators will be awarded Certificates of Facilitation.
Facilitators from various government ministries, including Agriculture, Youth, and Women’s Affairs, will conduct the training. The DDC has been tasked with engaging the Public Service Commission to release these facilitators from their workstations for the duration of the program.
The graduation ceremony, set to take place before the end of the year, will be presided over by the First Lady Dr. Auxillia Mnangagwa.
