ED Jnr to launch Film Empowerment Program in Binga

Barely a month after the Emmerson Jnr foundation Celebrated Junior’s birthday with the less privileged in Binga community, the foundation is back in the area, this time to launch a film and television empowerment project.

 

TateguruTV is reliably informed that the project will see close to one hundred locals of various age groups trained in film writing, directing, cinematography, film design and editing.

Speaking to TateguruTV, Spokesperson for Emmerson Junior Foundation, Mr Charles Munganasa said after the intensive training program, participants will graduate with certificates and will be assisted by the foundation to produce a television series which will be the first one for the Binga community.

 

Mr Munganasa said that their aim is to bring development in Binga through skills capacitation and Job creation.

 

“Mr Emmerson Mnangagwa Jnr adopted Binga as his second home and as such the foundation will launch a Film empowerment project which will be a game changer in the community.

 

Our aim is to create a vibrant film and television sector in Binga and as such we will start by capacitating the participants with critical skills and also equipment.

 

The President is on record, saying that no person or place should be left behind. Apart from bringing development through skills capacitation and job creation, this empowerment programme will ensure that the stories of Binga are going to be told to the world by the people of Binga,” he said.

 

Munganasa alluded that they are finalising all the necessary logistics and the foundation is optimistic that by end of February they first training workshop will commence.

 

 

The training will be done in partnership with some professional film practitioners, the National Arts Council, Great Zimbabwe University and other stakeholders.

 

 

Zimbabwe is slowly warming up toward establishing a billion dollar film and television industry and the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe appointed a National Film Team to draft a film Strategy Document for Zimbabwe.

 

Of late the county has also been producing international quality productions such as Gonarezhou the Movie and Cook Off which have both won award at various international film festivals

 

Binga is also a rich setting with out of this world visual aesthetics of the Zambezi marshlands and river people culture. Another spectacle to be taken advantage of will be the Binga inland beach.
