President Emmerson Mnangagwa`s book, which was launched today broke the national record for most copies sold on launch, since independence.

The book, which is aptly titled, “A life of Sacrifice- A Biography of Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa”, sold 50380 books in just one day.

The book which was authored by Eddie Cross, a renowned Economist, captures the history of the country and the life of the President.

It speaks of his life of Sacrifice throughout the Rhodesian era and up to now where he is the President of a free Zimbabwe.

The launch of the book does not come as a surprise as the President always encouraged the recording of history and for players in the history of this country to write their own accounts of events and key moments of our history. Once again he led by example.

During the launch Cross, highlighted that writing the book gave him a chance to know more about the President and his commitment to the country’s development.

“The President is creating an environment and a free country where you can control your own destiny. Mr President you are giving us hope and making Zimbabwean children out there want to come home. You are laying a foundation for a better future,” he said.

President Mnangagwa addressed the small gathering of less than 50 fully vaccinated people with the rest watching virtually.

In his speech President Mnangagwa said, “I am honored and privileged to address you all at this launch. The occasion places me in a rather awkward position of narrating and talking about myself and my life as I have lived it to date. Many will agree that it is far easier to live a life than self reflecting on it and balancing the same whilst it unfolds.”

Printers of the book, are likely to have little rest in the coming weeks, as the demand for the seminal text of history appear to be high.
