The ruling party ZANU PF says its economic policies are repositioning it in the grand scheme of global affairs, fast tracking the reintegration of Zimbabwe into the world economy.
ZANU PF National Secretary for Information and Publicity Cde Ambassador Chris Mutsvangwa told a press conference that overtures by the opposition to push for the isolation are failing.
Cde Mutsvangwa said Zimbabwe’s participation at Davos affirms that the country’s economic reform is being well received.
He said the confidence is being showed by the nature of deals Zimbabwe is signing.
” Some of you might say Zimbabwe is only signing with China or Russia but today we signed MOUs with the EU Bank which is a big boost for confidence for Zimbabwe.
EU Bank is the biggest taxing block in the world with 27 countries and a major source of capital for investment aboard,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
He also told the press that this silences naysayers who not only doubted President Emmerson Mnangagwa but the Second Republic’s success in stabilising the business and the economy of Zimbabwe.
“I served in Brussels so I know how the EU operates. They only deal with countries with promise and business prospects that are bright.
The EU Bank is the private sector arm of the EU for major global investments and this is a major boost of confidence in Zimbabwe’s success in Engagement and Reengagement,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
He also spoke of the successful meetings which President Mnangagwa held on the sidelines of the recent Premier business event.
“Davos is the United Nations for Businessmen where captains of Industry meet to assess the possible investments across the globe.
This time Africa was the main topic as it is the continent of choice with a youthful population and lots of resources. Additionally, the African Free Trade Act realises the possibility of integration of African trade,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
Goods and Services unite people more than talking as we politicians do and it was an honour that President Mnangagwa graced the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos as he assured the world of Certainty and Stability,” added Cde Mutsvangwa.
The National Secretary for Information and Publicity for ZANU-PF added that Internationally President charmed both European business people.
He met with a delegation of Swiss business people who showed interest in Zimbabwe.
Switzerland is a small population country but has a huge footprint in trade.
President Mnangagwa also met diasporans who showed interest in investing back home.
“There was some excitement in our black and white diasporans who danced to Zimbabwean traditional music with their flags.
We are finally overcoming the division of the racial and apartheid past of Zimbabwe because the younger generation is coming together and identifying as Zimbabweans,” he added.
Cde Mutsvangwa said that there were attempts of demonstrating from the CCC at Davos but were fizzled out.
“These demonstrations are also fizzling out in the sub-region. I am informed that some of the culprits in South Africa might have been made persona nagratta, but that’s for the South African government to announce.”
“We may be reaching difficult territory for the CCC because their massage is fast losing favour regionally and in the Diaspora,” said Amb Mutsvangwa.
Cde Mutsvangwa said the ruling Party is winning hearts in it’s delivery of fundamentals for a stable economy and currency which have been distributed by speculators and detractors.
He also said the National Treasury and Zimbabwe Reserved Bank have put in place measures that will curb the attack on the currency.
The press briefing came after today’s scheduled Politburo Meeting was called off due to administration issues as the nation is expecting to receive a high level delegation from Russia.
“We are expecting number three in the Russian hierarchy from President Vladmir Putin.
Russia has been a good friend of Zimbabwe and many of our young Zimbabwens have been trained in Russia and other Warsaw Pact Countries.
With the tension going on with the war in Ukraine and Russia, it is important that there is a meeting with the Russian Delegation,” said Cde Mutsvangwa.
