There is need for players in the Government Policy implementation matrix to work together as a team in communicating the correct message about the ongoing developmental programs in Mashonaland Central Province, and the country at large.
This was said by ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Chairman, Cde Kazembe Kazembe in remarks after hosting an inaugural Provincial Development Meeting at Bindura Golf Club in Mashonaland Central on 15 July 2022.
“Today we had our inaugural Provincial Development Meeting which was primarily designed to discuss developmental issues that concern our Province. It’s a meeting that we felt was very important in the sense that we have Members of Parliament on one hand and we have Government and ZANU PF on the other. We are all working towards one objective which is Vision2030,” said Cde Kazembe.
The ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Chairman confirmed that he was satisfied with the attendance.
He revealed that stakeholders involved in the development of Mashonaland Central had a chance to interface and clear any suspicions and mistrust that existed before the meeting.
“There is a lot of Government-driven projects going on in Mashonaland Central Province. But, the major handicap that existed before this meeting was miscommunication between implementing partners, the party and government as the key principal. This communication break down has in the past bred mistrust among partners such that the party and Members of Parliament felt that government workers and other implementing partners were sabotaging Government programs,” he continued.
The meeting which was attended by all 18 Members of Parliament for Mashonaland Central province, senior government officials in the Province, officials from ZINWA, ZESA, Rural District Councils, DDF, who all took turns to answer area-related questions from participants.
Mashonaland Central is home to one of the country’s flagship projects, which is the Kanyemba Gas and Oil exploration project which has the potential to change the face of the Province through employment creation, infrastructure development and boost the Provincial Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which will be a major achievement of the Devolution program.
Government has embarked on extensive road repair, maintenance and rehabilitation program which has seen a number of roads countrywide getting a massive facelift.
Cde Kazembe urged participants at the meeting to establish effective lines of communication so that correct messages are delivered to the people at the grassroots.
“We realised that there is a lot that government is doing, especially in our province, through the Devolution Fund, the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Program, whose progress and achievements need to be communicated to the people through a uniformity of messaging. So this meeting brought together MPs, Government, the Party, and representatives from our implementing agencies. We are saying that we are one family in Mashonaland Central Province. So the purpose of this meeting today was development, development and development,” said Cde Kazembe.
“We are saying that instead of MPs waiting to go to Parliament to discuss matters to do with this Province, we can have dialogue with Government, our Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, and the ZANU PF party because we have the same objective of developing our province,” said Cde Kazembe.
It was resolved that such a meeting like this will be held every three months to appraise on progress made.
Notable figures who attended the meeting include Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Cde Monica Mavhunga, Provincial Women’s League Chairwoman Cde Tsitsi Gezi and Politburo Member Cde Kenneth Musanhi.
